For the Business Development (EU) division at our headquarters in Brussels (near the train station and subway, see the map here) we’re looking for an International M&A and Business Development Officer (m/f/x).

In the light of Fluxys’ international growth strategy, the Business Development (EU) team is responsible for the execution and daily management of acquisition, divestment, merger processes and for the pursuit of specific business development opportunities. These projects typically have an international dimension and imply the set-up of a specific transversal project team, whereby Fluxys is usually assisted by an investment bank and by a range of selected expert advisers.

Job
respon­sibilities

Market analysis

• You ensure constant full understanding of relevant market dynamics, potential, opportunities and identification of key stakeholders in Belgium, Europe and outside Europe
• You identify key drivers and hurdles for further development of the relevant markets and ensure steps are undertaken to promote drivers and overcome hurdles

Market development and scouting activities

• You engage discussions with the stakeholders involved and potential partners with the aim to develop market and/or collaborate or co-invest
• When applicable you negotiate cooperation agreements

Business development

• You flag up and originate new business development projects
• You collaborate to the set-up of the transversal team, to the selection of expert advisers and to the preparation of business cases as well as the thorough analysis of the project related risks
• You ensure co-ordination with the internal departments of Fluxys involved in the project and with the expert advisers
• You prepare the internal decision-making process and ensure implementation of decision, monitoring and its related reporting

About
you

For this role, you have:

• A master’s degree in engineering sciences, business economics or similar
• 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in industrial business development, preferably in the energy industry
• The ability to manage multiple Business Development projects simultaneously and autonomously, from the initial idea until final implementation
• A strong analytical mindset
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills and the ability to build win-win relationships
• A flexible mindset enabling you to easily adapt yourself to a highly demanding environment
• A fluency in English with a good mastering of Dutch or French
• The willingness to travel abroad frequently
